The film has hit the screens all over today and let’s now see how it turns out to be.

Story:-
The film kick starts with Bakthavatsalam Naidu(Mohan Babu) shuttling his life between his two wives Ramya Krishna and Meena. Twist in the tale arises when his daughter(Poorna) mistakenly gets attracted towards his other wife’s son(Varun Sandesh).
To avoid this crazy situation, Naidu hires Balraju(Allari Naresh) to deviate his daughter’s attention. To his bad luck, Balraju falls in love with his daughter causing even more problems to Naidu. Rest of the story is as to how Naidu manages the troublesome Balraju and solves all his pending martial problems.

Plus Points:-
Undoubtedly, Mohan Babu is the heart and soul of Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu. Even at this age, Mohan Babu looks fresh and carries his role with utmost sincerity. It is only because of Mohan Babu the proceedings get lively and it was a treat to watch him in such an entertaining role after a long time.

Allari Naresh is pretty decent in his role and performs to the best of his capabilities. Ali gets a full length role and does a decent job. All his scenes with Mohan Babu have come out nicely.
Both Meena and Ramya Krishna play their supporting roles well. Certain twists and comedy episodes featuring Mohan Babu, Meena and Ramya Krishna have been executed nicely.

Minus Points:-
Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu suffers with the problem of age old story line. The script idea is pretty ordinary as the film has the feel of the 90’s. Allari Naresh looks out of place as his character has not much weight in the film.
After a point, the films gets quite predictable and the pace also drops a bit. The mistaken identities and all the drama which is caused because of this could have been showcased in a innovative way. Climax of the film is wrapped up in a silly manner.

Technical Aspects:-
Production values of the film are top notch and showcase the film in a rich light. Camera work is good and so was the art direction. Editing is ok but a few scenes during the second part could have been chopped off. Coming to the director Srinivasa Reddy, he has done a below par job with his direction. His subject had huge scope for comedy but he failed in setting the film in contemporary mode and makes the film look old school.

Verdict:-
On the whole, Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu brings back Mohan Babu in an hilarious role after a long time. His comical performance and some comedy punches are basic assets of this film. On the flip side, the film’s outdated story line will not go well with today’s generation but will go well with family audience.

Rating : 3/5

The love story looks quite fresh and has been executed extremely well. The various emotions, romance and conflict point have been dealt in a superb way and forms most part of the first half.

As the film moves into the second half, the mature love story between Dhanush and Samantha is nicely executed. Dhanush is superb in his role and has two different shades to portray. It was quite a difficult character for him to portray and the young star does it with aplomb. Samantha looks and suits her part aptly. She throws away her star image and carries a de-glam role with a lot of ease.

Amy Jackson is superb in the first half and strikes superb chemistry with Dhanush. Acting wise too, she has done a good job. The various middle class emotions and the bond between the family members have been executed quite well. Both K S Ravi Kumar and Radhika play their supporting roles well.

Minus Points:-

The basic drawback of the film is the thin story line which is quite routine and predictable. The only difference here is that the makers have added two different love tracks and have mixed family emotions along with it.

Though not a drawback, the film dips into a very serious mode after a very entertaining first half. The entertainment value is slightly missed here as the proceeding get quite slow. Some of the emotions shown are quite old school and do not exist in the present day age.

Technical Aspects:-

One of the biggest assets in the technical department is the music. Anirudh has done a superb job with the music score. All the songs are superb and have also been shot realistically. But what takes away the cake is Anirudh’s background score which is thumping. Camera work is yet another winner as the middle class set up has been shown in a realistic way. Dialogues are natural and so were the production values.

Coming to the director Vel Raj, his story idea is very good but the execution part slightly falters during the second part. Too much of predictability and melodrama make Nava Manmadhudu a routine experience during this time. Had he worked a bit more on the second half, the output would have been even better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Nava Manmadhudu is a feel good family entertainer which has its moments. A superb first half, striking performances by the lead pair are basic assets. On the flip side, a slightly slow and predictable second half and an outdated story line makes this film watchable for those who like simple and realistic emotions.

Rating : 2.75/5

Directed by Sampath Nandi, this film has Tamannah and Raashi Khanna as the female leads and has hit the screens today. Let’s now see whether this film gives Ravi Teja a much needed hit in his career.

Story:-

Aakash(Ravi Teja) is a happy go lucky guy who dreams of making it big. He is superb in the film and gives an all round performance. Credit should go to Sampath Nandi for showing him in such a good role. The way he has highlighted Ravi Teja in all the action episodes and thrills is very good.

Fist half of the film is hilarious with ample entertainment. Everything works big time and the director has made sure that his story line is showcased in an entertaining way. Raashi Khanna ups her glamour quotient and suits her character supremely well. Her acting capabilities have also improved and she surprises us in her bikini avatar.

Major highlight of the first half is 30 years Pruthvi. This talented comedian is slowly making a habit of giving superb performances with every film. He along with Posani and Ravi Teja evoke super comedy during the first half. Interval bang has been handled supremely well and surprises the audience. Some fights and emotional scenes in the second half have been executed well.

Minus Points:-

In every Ravi Teja film, entertainment is a huge asset and that is missing a bit during the second half. Not that the second half is bad, there is not much entertainment as the film moves on a serious conflict of interest between Boman Irani and Ravi Teja. Surprisingly, Tamannah has nothing much to do and appears only for song and dance.

Routine scenes, flashback episode and the hero with a tainted past, everything goes on a predictable note and spoils the fun during this time. Also, the songs spoil the mood of the film in the second half as they come at regular intervals.

Even though Raashi sizzles in a bikini, there was absolutely no need of this as she should have saved her act for a better scene and film. Ravi Teja looks way too slim in many scenes and seriously needs to get back his weight.

Technical Aspects:-

Bengal Tiger is high on technical aspects. Camera work is superb and showcases the film in a good light. Production values are top notch as the makers have not compromised on the rich content in the film. Special mention should go to Ram Lakshman for composing fights in an interesting way. Music by Bheems is pretty impressive and the signature tune in the background score elevates the film to a decent level.

Coming to the director Sampath Nandi, he does a decent job with the film. He induces ample entertainment and sets up a racy first half. Sampath’s screenplay is good but it slightly gets predictable during the second half. Even though the story chosen by him is routine, the way he has narrated the film is decent. Had he added some more entertainment in the second half, the output would have been even better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Bengal Tiger is a typical Ravi Teja mark entertainer. A full on entertaining first half, glamour quotient and well executed mass elements are huge assets for the film. If you manage to go in well prepared for a serious and emotional second half, Bengal Tiger will end up as a comfortable watch this weekend.

Rating : 3.25/5

When he has lost all options to clear the debt of two million dollars, he tries to commit suicide but his wife and son rescue him in the nick of time. His wife tells his son Gautham (Nikhil) that she has an ancestral property in Bihar that is worth many crores, which is lying vacant for years. So Gautham lands in Bihar to sell off the property Sankarabharanam but finds that the palace is not vacant but has his relatives as habitants. Gautham's mission now is to make his relatives leave the palace and sell it off to a prospect buyer in two weeks. Here he meets his maradalu Happy (Nanditha) and a friend (Sapathagiri). In the village everyone thinks he is a billionaire and the kidnap gangs in the village kidnap expecting big ransom. A gang kidnaps him and finds that he is actually broke. Then the story takes many turns.

Analysis:

A remake of Subhash Kapoor's Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010), Kona Venkat presented Sankarabharanam is a comedy set against the backdrop of kidnap gangs in Bhiar. Unlike the original movie, this one doesn't focus alone kidnap business but also gives importance to the family drama between Nikhil's character and Happy's family member. First half of the movie is completely different from the original.

While the original movie focussed on a guy who faced huge losses due to recession in the USA and his troubles finding a buyer for his ancestral palace, in this remake the movie dwells on family sentiment losing focus on the basic story in the very first place.

After putting the viewer in doze off mode in the first half, the movie comes into the groove in second half post interval. The entire portion from there is hilarious as Prudhvi's comedy coupled with some clever drama happening. This is the major highlight of the movie that has largely lost its plot.

Nikhil in the role of an NRI is just okay. More than in the role of NRI, he seems to be quite at ease with the normal boy roles. Nanditha's role as English-crazy girl lacks fizz. Also the romantic thread developed between Nikhil and Nanditha is very weak.

Among the ensemble cast, Prudhvi and Anjali make impact. Better lines are written for Prudhvi and he has pulled them off effectively. Anjali as don with feminist outlook has done justice to the character. Quite different to his villain roles, Sampath has played a character that is interesting. Sanjay Mishra has done the same role that he did in the original movie.

Suman, Rao Ramesh, Sithara, Shakalaka Shankar and Komali … all are just okay.

The classic title Sankarabharanam denotes the palace in the movie but it is clear that the title is used just for publicity purpose as it doesn't make difference to the story.

The film has decent technical and production values with neat cinematography (Sai Sriram) and adequate production design (art work and sets). Pace of the movie is not right, editor should have chopped off many scenes to tighten the screenplay in the first half. Music by Praveen is pretty ordinary. Don't know exact contribution of new director Uday Nandavanam's to the movie, as the credit rolls say the film is written and supervised (directorial supervision) by Kona Venkat. As writer Kona has shown his spark with some witty dialogues here and his mark is visible in later portions of the movie but on the whole it lacks zest.

Bottomline: Sankarabharanam is remake of a Hindi movie but only a portion of the story is taken from Phas Gaye Re Obama. Penultimate sequences and Prudhvi are the saving grace.

Rating:

2.75/5

This film is an official remake of a French movie Sleepless Night. Kamal Haasan breaks all the norms of commercial cinema for this film that is completely focused on the plot only.

What is it about?

Police Officer Diwakar (Kamal) and his accomplice do a rogue operation and get hold a bag of cocaine. Vittal Rao (Prakash Raj) kidnaps Diwakar's son to get his cocaine back. Diwakar goes to the night club owned by Vittal Rao and hides the bag in a toilet before he makes sure his son is fine. Diwakar draws the attention of cop Mallika (Trisha) who follows him and finds the bag of cocaine. She hides the bag in women's toilet. Now Diwakar has to find the bag to make sure of his son's safety. What follows is a cat and mouse game between all the characters in that night club.

Performances:

There is nothing new to say about Kamal Haasan's performance who has already mastered his art. He is very good as the cop who is caught in a bizarre situation. His confrontations with his son and wife are the best moments in the movie. Trisha is seen in a completely different character in this film. She is quite impressive as the lady cop. She used little makeup and looked natural and authentic as the narcotics cop. Prakash Raj is superb as usual. Sampath Raj delivers good performance. Every actor chipped in with their bit for this slick film that doesn't elevate any character for the sake of it.

Technicalities:
Rajesh M. Selva's direction is good. This film totally happens in a single location and the director manages to hold the interest of the viewers with his narration. However he should have added some thrilling moments to the film rather banking upon the hide and seek game between the principal characters.

Screenplay by Kamal Haasan doesn't have any highs. Music by Ghibran is worldclass. Background score is haunting at times. Cinematographer does a commendable job and so does the production designer. Technically Cheekati Rajyam is a well made movie with everyone pushing their limits.

Thumbs Up:

Kamal Haasan

Different Attempt

Technical Values

Thumbs Down:

Slow Pace

Weak Second Half

Analysis:

Cheekati Rajyam is a totally different film from the routine movies. The film sticks to the original without any deviations from the plot. There is not a single moment that is slipped in for the sake of commercial entertainment. People who love to watch world cinema will definitely appreciate the effort. There are no songs in the film except for one that comes during the rolling titles.

Kamal Haasan tried to offer world class experience to our cinemagoers. Cheekati Rajyam scores points for being totally different from the league however it fails to connect the audience with emotions. There is not a single moment of tension when you get to know that the hero's son has been kidnapped. The villains don't harm the kid even when they are duped by the father.

Except for some brilliantly shot action scenes Cheekati Rajyam has nothing exciting enough to be cherished at the cinemas. The team will be lauded for breaking the so called formula but as a film it fails to strike chord with the viewers. Kamal Haasan who usually adds emotional depth to his plots has written a flat screenplay that turns uninteresting in the second hour. Extremely slow pace and with hardly anything happening on the story front for the most part of the movie, Cheekati Rajyam finds it tough to appeal to the majority of audience.

Verdict: Different But Shallow.

Apart from producing the film Sukumar has also penned story and screenplay for this film. Kumari 21F raised curiosity with bold content shown in the trailers and has understandably caught the attention of youngsters. Did it live to the expectations or not? Let's analyze

What is it about?

Siddhu (Raj Tarun) is an aspiring chef who wanted to settle in Singapore. He bumps into Kumari (Hebah) one day and left amazed by her character. She is totally outspoken and free spirited girl that people believe that she is 'loose' character girl! Siddhu is in a dilemma to love her or not because of her awkward behavior. When Siddhu finally expresses his feelings towards her, Kumari says that he isn't matured enough to love her.

Performances:

Raj Tarun is tailor made for this subject. His innocent looking face and lean physique adds authenticity to the character. He is a very fine performer and knows his limitations. This is another feather to his cap. Heebah Patel is good as the female lead. She went overboard at times but did a decent job on the whole. Noel is good as the bad guy. Friends characters provided fun at times. Hema is seen in a role where she underplays for the first time.

Technicalities:

Palnati Surya Pratap had a good script on hands and did well in handling it. The story written by Sukumar is not easy to assess and bring it to life on screen. Pratap has shown maturity in dealing with such a subject and understanding the gist of the story.

Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good. There are some popular tunes that will add value to the film on the commercial front. Background music is another asset. Cinematography is very good. Editing is neat. Sukumar excelled as a writer and made a quality film as the producer without any compromises made.

Thumbs Up:

Script

Raj Tarun

Music

Cinematography

Thumbs Down:

High dose of vulgarity in some dialogues

Repetitive scenes

Analysis:

Kumari 21F is a youthful film but entirely different from what we see in this genre. There are dialogues and scenes that will instantly appeal to the youth but there are also some hard hitting and indigestible moments that will leave the audience with mixed feelings after watching it. Even the youth that enjoy the boldness in the first half will be left shocked after seeing the unusual climax.

This is not a regular film that banks on entertainment and silly jokes to pass off as a youthful movie. It focuses upon the mindset of young boys and their perception on free spirited girls. Sukumar has pushed the boundaries in establishing the characters. He didn't try to beat around the bush and has written some shocking scenes in the process.

Heart of the film lies in the pre climax and climax scenes where the movie takes a complete U turn with an unexpected ending. This is where the brilliance of Sukumar's writing comes to the fore and Kumari will leave a lasting impression on the audience either it is good or bad! The film has too much adult content which may not please audiences who comes to the theaters expecting lighter vein entertainment. Kumari will not appeal to all but it will definitely make a mark for itself as one of the most controversial and bold films ever made in Telugu cinema history.

Verdict: Kumari is Sensational, Shocking, Bold and Beautiful.

Directed Prakasa Rao Kovelamudi and produced by PVP Movies, Size Zero caught the attention of movie lovers. Did it live up to the expectations or not?

What is it about?

Sweety (Anushka) a lazy, oversized woman doesn't find a match. Everyone who comes to see her rejects due to her weighty issues. She falls in love with Abhi (Arya) a documentary moviemaker. When she comes to know that Abhi is after Simran (Sonal) a beautiful and athletic girl, Sweety decides to take a shot at Size Zero slimming clinic. But the methods and protein shakes used by that clinic puts her friend on the death bed. Now Sweety revolts against that clinic and tries to bring down that company owned by Satyanand (Prakash Raj).

Performances:

Anushka must be given more than hundred marks for her dedication and love shown towards her character. She has put on lots of weight to suit the character. She is at her best in getting the emotions rights. She is sweet and cute as the oversized woman. This is easily the best ever performance from the senior actress.

Arya has a very ordinary character and is he is okay within his limitations. Sonal Chauhan adds glamour to the movie. Prakash Raj excels as usual. Urvashi is good. Gollapudi Maruthi Rao gets a nice character. There are cameos from many actors including Nagarjuna, Rana, Tamanna and others.

Technicalities:

Prakasa Rao has a nice visual sense. He visualizes the scenes beautifully but should try to get a tip or two from his father to how to engage the audience with his storytelling. Direction in the second half of the movie is plain ordinary. The subject has stuff to be passed off as a decent entertainer but the second half takes a nosedive after a promising start.

Music by Keeravani is not impressive. None of the songs are catchy which is unlike of Keeravani. Dialogues are good in parts. Cinematography is fine. Production values are commendable. Should appreciate the producer for backing a good concept.

Thumbs Up:

Anushka

Entertaining First Half

Thumbs Down:

Second Half

Songs

Boring Romance

Analysis:

Firstly Size Zero should be lauded for not making fun of the oversized people. Anushka is certainly the show stealer with her stellar performance. It is hard to not to like her even with that oversized figure. Sadly the script isn't in sync with charming Anushka. She is totally let down by a very bad script that keeps on slipping down as the movie progresses.

Size Zero starts on an entertaining note and keeps you engaged with some beautiful moments thrown at right intervals. First half is very passable with some decent laughs offered. But the second half is awfully bad that we literally wait for the titles to roll on. Despite Anushka's best efforts second half is total yawn and migraine inducing. The film's runtime is just over two hours but it feels like an eternity.

Last half an hour turns absolute nonsense and looks like a show reel for PVP Sports. The romantic thread has no surprises and runs on a predictable note. We have seen tons of movies running with similar love triangle and it is dragged and dragged until we are fed up of it. Size Zero had the potential to be a promising film but the second half turned out to be the worst nightmare. Wish the director has put in half the efforts and hard work that Anushka has put into this film.

Verdict: Sweety Shines But The Film Doesn't.

Let us see, how far we can fall in love with the film?

In the Movie PMP: Story begins with introduction of Chandra (Aadi) and Yuktha (Shanvi) belonging to the same college with common passion for singing. They join hands to release an album on own and in the process of achieving it, they fall in love. With help of friends, they start the music band of Crazy Gang. At a time when everything is going fine with romantic track of Chandra and Yuktha, twist comes in the form of their childhood where in Yuktha develops lot of annoyance towards Chinna who is none other than grown up Chandra for a silly reason.

Without allowing Yuktha to realize that Chinna is none other than Chandra, their friends’ batch begins to sort out the things. Finally, when Yuktha gets aware of this, result is the break up. Nevertheless, they have to fulfill the common goal of completing the album. Did they?

Values & Out of the Movie PMP: A film should necessarily take the audience with journey of characterizations presented on screen. When it is a romantic storyline, it gets easy for a director to instill the soul with youthful elements making it a feast for audience to get connected. Till now, ‘Lovely’ and ‘Prema Kavali’ have augured good name and fame for Aadi because of his energy, attitude and youth pulling factor. When it comes to ‘PMP,’ there is nothing for Aadi to prove. The lackluster script, spineless direction and dejected treatment will leave the audience disconsolate. Especially, meager production values and bad writing needed a special mention. Thanks to Surendra Reddy’s neat camera work in canning the songs with tunes composed by reliable Anup Rubens made it a livable fare. KV Krishna Reddy’s editing is again discouraging.

On performance front, Aadi lost the charm on face may be due to excessive strain taken in building the six packs for ‘Rough.’ Anyhow, his utterance of dialogues, comic timing and dances can be spared. He should show a bit of intelligence in selecting the scripts to build a healthy and long lasting career. Shanvi is as usual beautiful with a scope to act. Her chemistry with Aadi is pleasant. Among the rest Vennela Kishore as Bobby, the gay music company owner, Madhu Nandan as Aadi’s childhood friend, Sapthagiri as artist Hussain Varma, Thagubothu Ramesh poured a bit of humor. Kasi Vishwanath, Sathya, Vishnu Priya, Ananth etc were okay.

Story line of the movie is wafer thin just based on childhood mistakes extended to youth age. Rest is the game of bluffing used to generate comedy tracks in second half. Although episodes on Sapthagiri, Madhu Nandan, Thagubothu Ramesh hatched few laughs yet this wasn’t enough to convince the patrons. For that matter, director and producer should know that handy cam or camera (which is key property in entire story for Shanvi to develop vengeance on childhood Aadi) is used only to shoot but not to play the same on screen. One can convert the cassettes or negative to VCDs, DVDs. God knows how director was able to assure producer missing this simple logic. Such loopholes are found innumerable in the script.

Entire first half is wasted with lame and unripened humor. No wonder the IPL techniques used for copying in exams (now please do not ask us when did Engineering Colleges start using Multiple Choice questions in their final exams and that too for 25 marks) should have dealt still better. The interval twist is pale and loose with no shock value. Into the second half, take off is pathetic with the pub episode. From then on, story steers on implausible and weak patches leading to a gimpy climax. Overall, this film can do nothing good for Aadi and Shanvi’s careers. Commercially, producer might be saved easily because there is nothing like lavishness in taking which shows the shoe string budget spent in making.

Cinejosh Verdict of PMP: Failed to Make Us Fall In Love.

Positives?

Shanvi is Awesome, Looking Gorgeous

Sapthagiri Comedy in 2nd Half as painter Hussain Varma

Emotional Scenes in Climax

Some Songs are picturized well

Cinematography by T Surrender Reddy is neat

Music By Anup Rubens is helpful for the film

Negatives?

Aadi Delivered a very Poor performance

Movie Length is the main drawback

Many unecessary scenes are been added

Lead pair chemistry not worked well

Vennela Kishore is irritating as a gay music boss

Songs placement - Back to Back songs tests patience

First half is dragging
